Built by hunters who had to learn the hard way.

Boone was founded to solve our own problem.

More than a decade ago, we were what you might call adult-onset hunters, two guys with zero mentors, zero experience, and zero clue of where to begin. Just a passion to get outdoors and experience wild places.

We didn’t grow up with a grandpa or uncle showing us the ropes.

We didn’t grow up with 300-acre farm in Iowa with a box blind overlooking a perfect food plot.

We didn’t have experienced buddies to call for advice about regulations, preference points, draw strategy, calling techniques, gear, or where to even start.

We had none of that. We were clueless.

So we did what millions of new hunters do every season - we figured it out on public land, one mistake at a time.

“What unit should we hunt?”

“How many preference points do we need to draw?”

“Didn’t that PDF say this trail was open? Is that a USFS or BLM trail?”

“If we apply as a group, do they take the highest points or the lowest points in the group?”

“Did you apply for your Wyoming pronghorn preference point? No? When’s the application? It’s over…”

We burned countless weekends chasing bad intel.

We hiked miles in areas that held no wildlife.

We wasted money on tags we shouldn’t have applied for.

We struggled through 600-page PDFs of harvest data, scattered regulations across Fish & Game to USFS to BLM and more, and state websites that were outdated and clunky.

What should have been an incredible adventure became a headache of rules, applications, and trial-and-error. We weren’t alone. The more we talked to other hunters, new and experienced, the clearer it became:

The modern hunting experience is too complex, and it’s leaving hunters, beginner and experienced, stuck on the couch instead of out in the field.

So we decided to build the platform we wished we had on day one. A platform that empowers hunters instead of overwhelming them.

Boone exists to make the hunting journey simpler, safer, and more successful for every hunter, in every state, on every hunt.

  • Co-founder

    Chris has spent his career building early stage technology startups and innovation ecosystems. He was a co-founder of SpotX Games, a geo-spacial experience startup acquired by Niantic. He built the largest single-cohort startup incubator in Florida and previously was GM of the LAB Miami, an innovation campus for technology companies.

    In the field, Chris is an asset on the glass and enjoys a sunrise glassing session with Instant Cafe Bustelo in the Jetboil. He is also an avid wild game cook and makes some of the best venison summer sausage around.

  • Co-Founder

    Dan has spent his career building data products and AI solutions for large enterprises and government-affiliated companies. As a consultant at Victura, Dan helped commercial companies win contracts with the Federal Government. Most recently, Dan is a Manager in Accenture’s Data and AI Practice where he assists companies in harvesting value from their data and driving operational efficiencies through use of AI technology.

    In the field, Dan is known to some as “DNR Dan” because he keeps us compliant and safe; he doesn’t mind a light Sunday read of the Big Game Brochures with a cup of coffee in hand. His calling ability, both elk and turkey, is his aspiring superpower. He swears by the Phelps Maverick diaphragm call for elk, and can get any gobbler to sound off with the Power Calls Mocking Bird. He is a strong conservationist and volunteers with the RMEF.
